Here are some of the things that we expect to do. Please bear with us as it will take time to do them all. Some of the changes will disappoint some modellers but our overall aim is to provide an improved and expanded service whilst making the greatest possible use of the ideas, inventiveness and investment put into the hobby by Malcolm Cross and Bernard Weller.
This list is not in any particular order nor does it represent a firm commitment.
- Introduce credit card sales;
- Introduce computer-based systems to support mail order and provide all necessary documentation;
- Rationalise the product range so that items that meet a requirement less well than alternatives are deleted;
- Accelerate the introduction of new products, in particular 7mm scale track components and 4mm scale driving wheels;
- Complete the planned P4 NewTrack BH range in 2005 and make progress on FB turnouts;
- Only in exceptional circumstances act as a reseller of other model railway suppliers' products;
- Review pack sizes and pricing. Small pack sizes cost disproportionately in packing and handling and pricing needs to ensure all products make an appropriate contribution to the costs of the business;
- Review the sourcing of each product to achieve stock levels and re-supply arrangements that give a high probability that all items will be available;
- Treat the website as an instalment work, adding extra groups of products as the desired stock and supply position is achieved;
- Advertise the range more widely so that all fine scale modellers are aware of the many good things already in the Exactoscale range and of additions as they are made;
- Charge for mail order so that the costs of providing the service are broadly covered (the move to "5% of order, minimum charge £2.50" for UK customers is intended to achieve this);
- Only offer trade terms to traders acting as resellers of Exactoscale products;
- Attend exhibitions with a range specified in advance, appropriate to each exhibition (The P4Track Company shows one way of doing this - we need to find ways of presenting a very wide range effectively);
- Work with scale societies and other interested groups so that the technology and investment in Exactoscale products can be applied more widely;
- Show prices including UK VAT alongside each product in Price Lists.
